Spray dry
From a liquid product to a powder through the atomization and drying process. Spray drying microencapsulation is the process through which a liquid product characterized by a high solids content is atomized in a hot gas stream to obtain a powder instantly. In itself, it is a form of drying but used appropriately, it can be exploited to encapsulate hydrophilic and hydrophobic active compounds within different carriers, avoiding thermal degradation of the active ingredient.In house: BUCHI Mini spray dryer B-290.
Typical schematic diagram of a spry dryer: 1 feed solution, 2 peristatic pump, 3 nozzle cleaning system (in the case of pneumatic nozzle), 4 hot air system, 5 atomizer, 6 drying chamber, 7 cyclone, 8 powder collector, 9 filter systems.
