Spray chilling

Spray chilling, also called spray cooling, is an encapsulation technology used mainly in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic fields to increase the stability and absorption of lipophilic and hydrophilic active ingredients. It is an economical technique representing a good alternative for protecting active ingredients such as pigments, aromas, antioxidants, and fragrances. It is a solidification of atomized particles at room or refrigerated temperature, where the particles are created of melted waxes or fats in which the active ingredients are dissolved or dispersed. This technology is very well suited for protecting pigments and antioxidant agents.

The advantages:

  • cost-effective technique, materials, and polymers
  • increased stability and absorption of lipophilic and hydrophilic active ingredients
  • excellent for the protection of pigments, aromas, antioxidants and fragrances

Characteristics

  • particles obtained in the form of powders with diameters from 15 to 300 µm
